Beomhan (real name: Harald Wu) is a Chinese-American Kpop trainee who was expected to debut with his fellow group members of M.O.N.T. Arena. However, in September of 2023, his contract was terminated by FM Entertainment. This was a shocking move as Beomham was gathering a large following through his social media activities, especially on Instagram and TikTok (Over 2.7 million followers). He is considered one of the up-and-coming Chinese Kpop stars in the industry.
Why was Beomhan terminated by FM Entertainment?
The termination was mutual upon extensive negotiations and discussions. However, a statement by FM Entertainment claimed that Beomhan distorted the truth on many occasions and spread misleading information during his live broadcasts. This led to other FM artists and fans having to experience mental distress and stress. It is not clear what these distorted truths and misleading information are but it seems to be related to other artists and contract requirements.
Many fans feel the issue could be with Beomhan talking about his life as a Kpop trainee and how home medial expenses were not covered by FM Entertainment. Beomhan did have to have shoulder surgery in America which FM Entertainment did not pay for. In addition, Beomhan talked in great lengths about having to diet as a trainee and not having proper nutritional support. Others feel, his desire to talk about his mental health and suicide thoughts are what got FM Entertainment nervous to the point they did not want to be blamed for any accidents in the future.
Beomhan’s only response was to his fans:
“Thank you guys for your continuous support this whole time. I’m sure we’re all feeling the same emotions of confusion and frustration. Please continue to support me and my activities in the future. Our goal hasn’t changed. I love you guys so much~ Tiger Cubs Forever.”
What is the future for Beomham?
Many feel Beomhan will become a TikTok streamer/influencer due to his enthusiastic and entertaining personality. What makes him special is that he can do it all. He can rap, dance, and has a fun and engaging personality. Add the fact that he is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, and you have someone that could be a global social media star.
Not only has Beomhan been active on Instagram and TikTok, but he has also been active on Twitch. When watching his streams you can tell he is very close with soloist Jay Chang and the possibility these two could team up for future projects is very exciting. However, Jay Chang is still signed under FM Entertainment.
