Churches in Korea have been on the rise since the 1960s. Christianity, in particular, is massive in South Korea. It has a long history in South Korea, with the first Protestant missionaries arriving in the late 19th century. The religion began to proliferate in the country in the 1960s, and by the 1980s, South Korea had one of the world’s highest per capita rates of Christian believers.

There are several reasons why Christianity has become so popular in South Korea. One reason is that it offered hope and salvation to people struggling with poverty, political instability, and war. In addition, many Christian churches’ strong emphasis on education and hard work resonated with the Korean people, who were eager to improve their economic circumstances. Finally, the hierarchical structure of many Korean churches, with a transparent chain of authority and a focus on obedience and discipline, may have appealed to a culture that values hierarchy and respect for authority.

Christianity is the largest religion in the country, with approximately 29% of the population identifying as Christian. Most Christians in South Korea are Protestant, but there is also a significant Catholic minority. Catholicism was introduced to the country in the late 18th century by Chinese and Korean converts, and the first Korean priest was ordained in 1845. South Korea has approximately 5 million Catholics, which is about 10% of the population. Below is a list of some of the biggest Churches and Cathedrals in South Korea worth visiting.
