Choi Min Young is one of the hottest up-and-coming Korean drama actors at the moment due to his performance on the hit series on Netflix XO, Kitty. XO, Kitty is a fusion of Korean drama and American drama. It is very light-hearted and filled with fun and lovely characters with Choi Min Young playing one of the best characters in Dae-heon Kim. The series while light-hearted does deal with some deep themes such as multi-racial, LGBTQ, and high school sex. The star of the series is by far Choi Min Young who has seen his popularity skyrocket after the series release. He was a child actor who has now fully become an actor and many fans want to know more about him. He wanted to become a professional football (soccer) player

Choi Min Young stated that his dream job would have been to be a football (soccer) player. He played mid-fielder in high school and sometimes left wing.

Choi Min Young worked with many directors on XO, Kitty

XO, Kitty did not have just one director. It is typical for Korean dramas to have one director but for this American/Korean drama series, 4 directors brought a different style of directing. Therefore, this was a great experience for Choi Min Young as it helped him gain a wider perspective and work with different directors. It was almost as if he was able to do 4 series in 1. The 4 directors were Jennifer Arnold, Jeff Chan, Pamela Romanowsky, and Katina Medina Mora who will all most likely return for season 2.

He lived in Canada when he was a child

Choi Min Young lived in Canada for a little over a year when he was a child (7 years old). During that time he studied English to prepare him to audition for the English speaking series. During his 7 months shooting XO, Kitty, he continued to study English.

Choi Min Young made his acting debut at the age of 10

He first got his acting break in 2012 when he was 10 years old. This was when he made up his mind that he wanted to pursue acting. He got his big break on Twenty-Five Twenty-One but was in more than a dozen Korean series before then.

He was the guide for the XO, Kitty cast while in Seoul

As Choi Min Young was born and grew up in Seoul, he was able to show the cast of XO, Kitty when they went to Korea. This allowed him to not only bond with his cast mates but also improve his English and he was speaking English during the trip. When you look through the cast members Instagrams you can see them at famous landmarks in Seoul and eating Korean food.

Choi Min Young can sing

You can find a few videos on his Instagram of him singing and he has a beautiful voice. This is why he has mentioned in many interviews he is interested in doing musicals at some point. He has experience doing local live productions as with the case of Frankenstein and Kinky Boots in 2014.

He was originally not meant to play Dae

The character of Dae first appeared in the trilogy’s final film To All the Boys: Always and Forever. This character was played by a different actor named Jeon Ho Young. Jeon Ho Young then went on to do the K-pop idol surival show Boys Planet where he blew up and was difficult for the series to keep him due ot his high demand and for his scheduling conflicts due to him being a part of the kpop boy group ZEROBASEONE.
