Soojin, the former (G)I-DLE member has exploded with her new solo hit song “AGASSY”. It is her new solo mini-album which is of the same name. There are high hopes that Soojin will become the next big female kpop superstar. In a single day, the AGASSY music video got over 4 million views on the first day of its release. Soojin faced allegations of school violence.
The reason why Soojin took a break from Kpop for over 2 years was because, in early 2021, she faced allegations of school violence through online bullying. Many feel this is what led to Cube Entertainment ending their contract with her in 2022. She ended up being found not guilty by the Committee for School Violence Countermeasures.
Soojin is the highest-paid artist under BRD Communications.
Soojin signed an exclusive contract with a new label called BRD Communications. It includes a base salary and is performance-based. Looking at the success of AGASSY, it is estimated that she will make over $1 million in her very first year.
She was the face of the Korean cosmetic brand peripera
Many were shocked to see Soojin become the face of the Korean cosmetics brand peripera as it typically went to well-established Kpop stars. While (G)I-DLE was popular, they were still known more as a group. This feature as the model for peripera showed that Soojin had the potential to be a star on her own. She ended up losing her contract with peripera once the bullying accusations came out.
She used to smoke cigarettes when she was underage.
When the school violence rumors started to come out, she came out and stated that she tried out cigarettes when she was young but denied allegations of bullying.
Actress Seo Shin Ae also accused Soojin of being a bully.
Seo Shin Ae claimed that Soojin didn’t know her well but still one-sided insulted her. She also claimed that Soojin was part of many scornful words when she was in her bully group.
Her Instagram broke 1 million followers after 1 month.
Soojin’s opened her Instagram account to show fans her activities. Within a month it reached 1 million followers. Now it has over 2.9 million followers.
